
The legendary Nigerian football goalkeeper late Peter Rufai MON will be laid to rest on Friday 22 August, 2025, as his family announced and finalized burial plans for the former Super Eagles goalkeeper.
According to the burial plan, Service of song for the late Rufai will be held on Thursday 21 August 2025 at Raji Rasaki Estate field off Raji Rasaki ,Amuwo Odofin ,Lagos between 4.30 and 7.00pm.
There will be a funeral Mass at Catholic Church Of Visitation,1st Avenue Festac,Lagos by 10.00am on Friday 22 August 2025.Interment will follow immediately at Ikoyi cemetery.
Dodo Mayana as fondly called by fans and admirers was first choice NIgeria’s goalkeeper between Ivory Coast 1984 to Tunisia 1994. It was 10 years of his dominance out of the 17 he spent with the NIgerian national team.
Peter Rufai track record with the NIgerian senior national team includes ;Winner CAF AFCON Tunisia 1994.Runner up CAF AFCON 1984 & 1988.
He Participated in the FIFA World Cup in 1994 & 1998 at the USA and France respectively,FIFAConfederation Cup in Saudi Arabia 1995.He earned 65 caps for the Super Eagles throughout his 17 years with the team.
Rufai passed on after a long illness on 3 July, 2025 at the age of 61.
