
At about 6.33 pm on Tuesday 17, October 2023 at the Air Force Officers Mess, Victoria Island Lagos the Gong and the Gavel sound for the Doyen Lion Akintola Williams for the last time and that marked his exit from the club he pioneered in Nigeria in 1964.
The ceremony which was the Memorial Service held for the Late Williams at the Officers mess started at about 4.30Pm when Lion Ayanbola called the meeting to order.
The well attended meeting started with meeting of the Lagos Doyen Lions Club led by the President Okechckwu Egbuchu .
A member of the informed the house about the demise of Lion Akintola Williams who died on 11, September 2023. The sad news led to the abrupt adjournment of the meeting.
This was followed by a memorial read by a four member team led by PCC Lion Kola Oyekanmi.
There were testimonials by the President of Lagos Doyen Lions Club, Lion Egbuchu Okechukwu, District Governors Niyi Balogun, Dayo Fagbohun and Samson Abodunrin, Multiple District Chairman, Asiwaju Ayobola Samuel as well as Lion Leaders such as PDG Alex Irotumhe, PCC Dr. Teslim Sanusi, PCC Adetope Tychus and PID Engr. H O B Lawal..

While receiving the Lions banner and flowers used in spelling the world LIONS, Tokunbo Williams, daughter of the Doyen Lion Akintola Williams thanked members the Lions International Multiple District 404 Nigeria for the honour bestowed on her father with a promise that the family will keep the flag flying.
The well attended memorial service came to an end with hitting the Gong for the last time for Doyen Lion Akintola Williams and a closing hymn.
