Renowned Nigerian singer and performer, Davido, has once again showcased his philanthropic spirit by donating the sum of ₦237 million to support orphanages in Nigeria.
The singer disclosed the generous act on his Twitter platform on Thursday, July 20, 2023.
In the post, Davido expressed his desire to utilize his platform to extend help and support to those in need.
“I’ve always wanted to use my platform to serve others. Thankful that through your generosity, I’ve been able to do so.
“We recently disbursed over N200m to several orphanages in Nigeria, a tradition that started a few years ago around my birthday. Thank you to everyone who donated. With your help, we are changing lives.
“This is what I mean when I say We rise by lifting others. These are words in action. God bless you all!” the singer tweeted,
The philanthropic journey commenced in 2021 when Davido requested his friends to show their support by gifting him a sum of ₦1 million each on his birthday.
To his delight, his friends complied, and the collective contribution totalled ₦200 million.
The singer added ₦50 million from his personal funds to the sum and generously donated the entire amount to various orphanage homes across all 36 states in Nigeria.
