The Executive Governor of Oyo State Engineer Seyi Makinde is currently under fire over this delay in installing the Olubadan Elect ,Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of ibadan land
.
Investigation revealed that the problem started last week when Gov Makinde said that Olakulehin will be installed as soon as he is confirmed fit to ascend the throne.
The governor ‘s statement has generated a lot of heat amongst all and sundry including sons and daughters of Ibadan land as some of them are of the opinion that Makinde is not a medical doctor so he can not determine the fitness of anybody.
An Ibadan socio-cultural group known as Ibile G-7 led by a former President of NUJ Lanre Ogundipe described the governor’s statement as reckless saying ‘Makinde is not God so he can not determine whether a person will live to see tomorrow or not .
Also the Otunba Balogun of Ibadan land,High Chief Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja has said that the Governor is not delaying the installation because of him because a new Olubadan has been picked ‘so nobody can stop the installation.
Ladoja added that the governor has no right to crown a king ‘its the people of Ibadan led by Oluwo of Ibadan that have the right to install their Oba.
