Bishop Emeritus of the Methodist Church of Nigerian ,Most Reverend Ayo Ladigbolu had said that it is the turn of Agunloye ruling house to fill the vacant stool of Alaafin of Oyo .
Speaking in an interview with a national daily recently Ladigbolu who is from Ladigbolu extraction of Agunloye ruling house said that there is a process of selection of the new Alaafin “so there is no controversy over the selection because there is an agelong precedent which must be followed by the Oyomisis for the new Oba to emerged and they know that the next in line is Agunloye ruling house ‘.
He said that the selection process will commence after the mourning period ‘right now we are mourning so the next Alaafin can not be named yet ,after the period the family concerned will ask family members who are interested to signify their intention after which ,they will go through a selection process from which one of them will be picked ”.
The Bishop Emeritus said by right and as a member of the Ladigbolu family with Agunloye extraction he is entitled to the throne ‘but I can’t say for now whether I’m interested or not or Whether I’m backing any of my children or siblings for the throne or not ,”I won’t answer that question”.he added.
Speaking about the wives of the Late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu said that they are not available to any suitor as being rumoured because ,the new Alaafin will automatically inherit them ‘though things are changing and we are in modern world ,so it is the the prerogative of the new Oba to either retain them or not ,also them might be ask to make a choice to either stay or leave because they are married to the institution and not the Late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi per say’.
Though the Bishop Emeritus did not State when the mourning period will be over ,he said ‘ I can assure you that there will be a smooth selection process and there will be no controversy:.
