A heartbreaking tragedy has struck the Lagos State civil service as a senior official, Mrs. Serifat Olubukola Talabi, died four days before her scheduled retirement and 60th birthday celebration.
Before her demise, Mrs. Talabi served as the Director of Procurement at the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), was reportedly hit by a vehicle on Saturday, 18 October, 2025, while attempting to cross the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Camp in Mowe , Ogun State.
The late director had been full of excitement as she prepared for a double celebration ,her “Thanksgiving Retirement and 60th Birthday”, which was scheduled for 22 October, 2025, at the NERDC Conference Centre, NERDC Road, adjacent to the Fela Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos. Invitation cards had already been distributed to colleagues, friends, and family members.
Sources close to the family described her death as “a cruel twist of fate,” coming just days before what was supposed to be one of the happiest moments of her life
Mrs. Talabi’s death has left her colleagues in shock, with tributes pouring in from various departments of the Lagos State Government.
