The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Alumni Association, Lagos Chapter, has expressed its willingness to provide technical expertise, advisory services and its resources to support the Abeokuta North Local Government Area (L.G.A) transformative agenda.
The association, led by Mr. Gafar Odubote, its Chairman, expressed this readiness for a symbiotic relationship between the association and the local government over the weekend in Abeokuta, Ogun State, when the former paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, the Chairman of Abeokuta North L.G.A.
Odubote pointed out that it was necessary to explore areas of sustainable development and collaboration between the two for the benefit of all.
He declared that the MAPOLY Alumni was committed to translating its human capital into meaningful solutions for the society.
He also unveiled the MESSAGE pillar, the association’s acronym strategic platform, which included Membership Empowerment, Sustainable Structure, Alumni Growth, and Engagement.
He said: “First, we want to congratulate you on your victory at the polls. It’s a victory for all MAPOLY. As an alumnus of the great institution, you have been one of our great ambassadors. Your election was a well-deserved one.
“Since your assumption of office, you have embarked on numerous transformation projects, which will outlive you. We are very proud of you. As an alumni association, we are willing to partner with you on how you can better deliver on your campaign promises to the good people of the local government.”
In his response, Oyegbola-Sodipo, informed the visitors of the notable initiatives of the local government.
He mentioned the development of an enterprise and skills development centre, special focus on transitioning trading into scalable enterprises, plans for an upcoming economic and security summit to attract strategic investment and address local development challenges.
The Chairman also told the delegation of his plan to upgrade health and educational infrastructure across the LGA, while also introducing the waste-to-wealth programmes, street naming/numbering for better civic planning and Improvements in community power supply and digital inclusion.
The team also toured the secretariat facilities.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a special recognition award to the chairman with the title: ‘The Spirit of Ogun.’
This award, which was a beautifully crafted plaque inspired by the iconic Olumo Rock and the legendary tree, signifying strength, rootedness, and leadership.
