Popular controversial musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable has been remanded in prison custody Following his arraignment on Monday at the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, on a nine-count charge bordering on assault, theft, causing harm, and resisting arrest.
Confirming the development, Ogun Police Command spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi,told Pt that the charges were linked to several incidents involving the singer, including an alleged assault on his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple, and others.
Portable’s court appearance came after a viral video surfaced on Sunday showing him in police custody. The footage was said to be connected to a complaint filed by Ashabi, who accused him of assault.
According to the prosecution, Portable allegedly attacked Ashabi, some police officers, and other people at his bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area on New Year’s Day.
He is also accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 worth ₦12 million, said to belong to Ileyemi Damilola. The vehicle was reportedly obtained from Wally Dex Auto. Other individuals mentioned in the case include Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
In court, Ashabi’s siblings testified as witnesses, although she was absent. The police further alleged that Portable obstructed and assaulted Ogungbe Olayemi, a female police inspector, while she was performing her duties.
After listening to submissions, the presiding judge refused to grant Portable bail, saying the court needed to hear from the police officer allegedly assaulted before deciding on the bail request.
He was then remanded in custody, and the bail hearing was adjourned to January 19.2026.
