
The Curfew for the Alaafin of Oyo-designate, Akeem Owoade, to perform the statutory traditional rites leading up to his 5,April 2025 coronation has been reviewed to accommodate the Muslims who are currently observing the compulsory Ramadan fast
Pt learned that the review became necessary because of the need to carry the Muslims along and that the curfew which was earlier scheduled to start from 8pm to 6am daily will now start by 10Pm and end at 4.30am daily.
The message is contained in a press release issued by the Chief of Staff to Alaafin Abimbola AbdulAkeem Owoade ,Rotimi Osuntola,MBA which is a follow up to the one earlier released before the commencement of the enthronement rites of the Alaafin designate which began on Friday 7,March 2025.
Osuntola stated that the curfew is for the incoming Alaafin to go into absolute seclusion and it is sacrosanct for the ascending ‘Iku Baba Yeye’ ‘it must be respected by all and sundry’.
Investigation revealed that as of Friday night the Alaafin designate have started enthronement rituals at the Baba Iyaji residence, from where he moved to Ona Isokun, Ilemole, Bara before proceeding to the Koso chamber accompanied by his chiefs and priests.
