
A member of House of Representatives representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara has given out the sum of 100 million naira as grant to women and youth in Kosofe Federal Constituency.
This was disclosed during an event tagged “Female Legislator’s 3 Days Outreach” with the theme, ‘Advancing Women Political Participation/Representation’ held at the Mandate House in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
Speaking on why she decided to empower the youths and women, Ogbara said that there is the critical need to support the low income earners especially women and youth in the community because of the current economic hardship and the need to make them self sufficient.
And that the grant is meant for the women and the youth in the Kosofe Federal Constituency which comprises of Agboyi Ketu, Kosofe and Ikosi Isheri LCDA.
While advocating for increased female participation in politics, the law maker urged women to step forward and engage actively in the political process, stressing the importance of retaining Female Representation in both the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Another landmark at the event was the distribution of 200,000 Naira each to every registered and accredited woman present at the event. This significant financial support was aimed at fostering economic independence and encouraging entrepreneurial ventures among the female participants.
The program witnessed a large turnout, with many constituents expressing their gratitude and support. “This kind of empowerment is unprecedented in Kosofe Federal Constituency,” said a local resident. “Honorable Ogbara’s initiative has set a new standard for political engagement and support for women in our community.”
The outreach also included various workshops and discussions focused on enhancing women’s roles in politics and governance. The event concluded with a series of prayers and blessings from the local community, who praised Honorable Ogbara for her dedication and innovative approach to empowering women.
