Governor of Lagos State Mr.Babajide Sanwo-Olu gifts the former chairman of the old Ikeja Local Government Area Pa Ademola salami a brand new car for his selfless service.
The car was presented to Salami at a special event organized Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Kosofe Federal Constituency,Hon.Kafilat Ogbara which brought together a host of dignitaries to celebrate the legacy of dedication and service to the state by former council Chairman.
In her address, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara expressed her deep gratitude to the governor for his show of love and recognition of Pa Salami’s contributions. “This gesture is proof that the Lagos State government values and remembers those who have served our state selflessly”.
Ogbara also urged everyone present to care for their elderly, emphasizing the importance of honoring those who have walked before us. “Whatever we do for the elderly, we do for ourselves, because we will all reach that stage,” she also highlighted her own project—a newly built relaxation center for the elderly in Omole Phase II.
The celebration, which was a blend of elegance and class, was attended by prominent figures, including GAC leader Alhaji Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, who personally handed over the keys of the car to Pa Salami on behalf of Governor Sanwo-Olu,royal fathers and others.
The atmosphere was one of joy and gratitude, especially for the celebrant himself. Pa Ademola Salami, filled with emotion, thanked Governor Sanwo-Olu for the thoughtful gift, expressing his deep appreciation for being remembered for his service to Lagos. “I served this state with all my might, not looking for what to take but to give”.
Pa Salami shared, recalling his time in government where he was known for his integrity and dedication to public service. He also called on the audience to help him appreciate Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, whom he described as a unique and compassionate human being.
The children and grandchildren of nonagenarian were present to celebrate the milestone with him.
Alhaji Olusi, who shared fond memories of working alongside Pa Salami, recalled his remarkable integrity and commitment during his tenure. The celebration was a beautiful testament to a life well-lived in service to Lagos, reminding everyone of the power of dedication, humility, and selflessness in public office.
