Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is a disorder that causes red blood cells to be malformed, unshapely and break down.
It is an inherited disorder where the red blood cells contort into a sickle shape. Causing them to die early, leaving a shortage of healthy red blood cells called Sickle Cell Anaemia (SCA). A condition that blocks blood flow and causes severe pain i.e Sickle Cell Crisis (SCC).
SYMPTOMS :
Severe pain in the bones, joints and chest.
Dizziness
Fatigue
Low oxygen in the body
Shortness of breath
Developmental delays
Pale skin
