Veteran Nigerian actor, Baba Gebu whose real name is Prince Oyewole Olowomojuore has reportedly passed away.
His death was announced by Nollywood actor and movie producer Kunle Afod via his verified Instagram on Tuesday, 12 November,2025.
According to the 54 -year-old actor, the veteran died after a brief illness. In his words: “It saddens my heart as I announce the passing away of our great legend, a great actor who passed away this evening after a brief illness… BABA GEBU may your soul rest in peace.
Baba Gebu, before death had a long career in the Nigerian film industry, particularly in Yoruba-language cinema, and had contributed to major productions.
In 2024, the late actor narrated about the death of his wife and opened up on his decision to come back to active acting to avoid depression.
Fellow actors and industry figures, such as Afod, got involved in assisting him after sharing his desire to work in the movie industry.

Baba Gebu was at a time a household name with his Ife dialect.
