
Crisis is currently brewing in Igbotako,area of Ondo State over the kidnap and possible murder of a Police Inspector named Adewale Balogun while on duty at a check point in Igbotako by officers of Nigerian Police force attached to Alagbon Police Station,Ikoyi Lagos.State .at Oke Ola ,Omowole ,Along Village 49,Ondo State on 11,April 2022.
According to a petition written by a legal Practitioner/ human rights lawyer A K.Akinbuluma of Bulumi Law Hub on behalf of the Balogun,’s family and addressed to the Commissioner of Police ,Ondo State Police command ,Akure ,Ondo State titled ‘A cry for Justice for Mr.Adewale Balogun and his family ,A call for investigation into Kidnap and possible murder of inspector of Nigerian Police force in Igbotako while on duty at check point by officers of Nigerian Police force attached to Alagbon Police Station , Ikoyi Lagos “
Buluma said that he was informed by the family that Inspector Balogun reported at duty post on 11, April 2022 and he was posted to a checkpoint by the superintendent of police on duty to Oke Ola ,Omowole Along Akinfosile Village 49 Ondo State.
And that when he did not return home the family went to the Igbotako Police Station to inquire about his whereabout only to be told that he had been kidnapped by some Policemen attached to ,Alagbon ,Police Station because he tried to forcefully stopped their vehicle when they pass through the checkpoint.
And that enquiry further revealed that before Inspector Balogun was kidnapped and later killed the Police from Alagbon he was forcefully disposed of his gun ,beat him to stupor before he was taken away to an unknown destination.”and when we try to reach Adewale through his phone ,it was picked up by an unknown person who told them that he has his lifeless body and that they should come and claim it in Edo State ‘.
While calling in the Commissioner of Police to help look into the matter ,the legal Practitioner said that he is surprised that the officers from Alagbon could perpetrate such heinous crime and officers on the team led by Balogun did not make any attempt to save his life .
Akinbuluma said the Inspector who lost his wife six years ago ,has six children with aged parents
And that the unfortunate incident is now brewing crisis in the area but he has advised his client not to take laws into their hand hence the cry for Justice “delay could be dangerous” he added.
