Double Taxation :SanwoOlu ,Lagosians On War Path.
If Pt findings are anything to go by then Lagosians especially government staffs and the Governor of Lagos State,Mr.Babajide Olusola SanwoOlu may be on collision course soon.
Pt learned that Gov.SanwoOlu through the Ministry of Transportation is set to introduce a consolidated levy of Eight hundred naira ( N800.00.) totalling N288,000 annually per commercial bus in Lagos State
Investigation revealed that during the stake holders meeting which was attended by ALGON Chairman ,Kolade Alabi and Radaq Ajala of Odi Olowo / Ojuwoye LCDA Chairman Radaq Chairman NURTW ,Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya aka Mc Oluomo and others it was resolved that the levy will take effect from the month of February 2022 and that it will be collected at the motor parks .
Lagosians especially government staffs are said to be annoyed by Akinsanya’s ulterance that the N800.levy will not affect the money being collected at the motor packs daily which is about N1200 .
This according to them this will lead to double taxation because it will automatically lead to increase in transport fare which will affect commuters and government staffs in Lagos State.
Meanwhile commercial drivers are said to be meeting in Lagos on how to truncate the idea of of the Levy.
A source close to the State Government workers told PT that they (Local and State Government workers ) are meeting on how to stop the idea which might lead to workers strike in the State.
