Residents of Ijoko a community in Ogun State, Southwest Nigeria are currently going through hard times as it has been neglected by government in Ogun State
Pt learned that the community may be be cut off from the rest of the state as the only road that links the community to Sango Ota is currently being ravaged by erosion.
Ironically, this community plays host to the popular Dangote salt company and a host of other industries ranging from production, manufacturing etc.
When Pt visited the area the situation was as pathetic as the journey from Sango Ota which ordinarily would have taken fifteen minutes now takes up to one hour thirty minutes and commercial bus drivers charged exorbitant prices.
Some of the residents who spoke with Pt complained about neglect by successive governments in the state
Mr. Jimoh Kehinde, a commercial Bus driver said that they have accepted their faith since no Governor is ready to help the community . “My brother we have to accept our faith because the reality on ground is that no Governor right from Otunba Gbenga Daniel to the present Prince Dapo Abiodun knows that Ijoko exists in Ogun State yet they do come to campaign during the election ‘.
Another motorist Mr. Adisa Lekan said he is considering parking his personal car at Sango Ota whenever he is coming home from work and boarding a public transport as he has spent over N50,000 to repair the car in the past two weeks.
“Honestly I may start parking my car at Sango next week because within two weeks I have spent over N50,000 to repair this car and how much do I make in a month as a self-employed individual I don’t know of others”.
