Letzplay, a Lagos-based child development and enrichment centre, has received the Federal Government’s approval to serve as a centre where individuals can be trained as early childhood caregivers.
This was conveyed to the Founder and Co-founder of the centre, Mr. Ese Rockson and Mrs. Mofifoluwa Oke Rockson, on Thursday, October 22, 2026, when the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, paid a visit to the centre at OPIC in Ikosi/Isheri LCDA of Lagos State.
Letzplay is an indoor playground and children’s enrichment centre focused on nurturing creativity, curiosity, critical thinking and social development through play and hands-on learning experiences. The centre complements formal education by providing a safe and stimulating environment where children can explore their interests, develop confidence, build independence and acquire essential life skills.
Through its playground facilities, creative activities and interactive learning programmes, Letzplay encourages children to express themselves, interact with their peers, solve problems and discover their individual strengths while having fun.
After a tour of the facility, Dr. Alausa commended the owners for the cleanliness, high level of hygiene and the centre’s focus on early childhood development.
The Minister noted that the facility compared favourably with similar centres in other parts of the world, adding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration places great importance on education.
He expressed satisfaction with what he had seen at Letzplay and disclosed that the Federal Government would use the centre as a proof of concept for its plans on early childhood education.
Dr. Alausa further explained that while the President Tinubu-led administration has made significant progress in primary, secondary and tertiary education, attention would now be directed towards early childhood development, with initiatives expected to commence in January 2027.
According to the Minister, the early stages of a child’s development are critical, particularly in the areas of growth and sensory development, noting that Letzplay has demonstrated commendable efforts in providing an environment that supports these developmental needs.
During the tour of the facility, Mr. Ese Rockson and Mrs. Mofifoluwa Oke Rockson explained the goals and vision of Letzplay to the Minister, highlighting the importance of creating opportunities for children to learn beyond the conventional classroom through play, exploration and social interaction.
They also sought the Federal Government’s support in strengthening initiatives that contribute to the holistic development of Nigerian children and complement the country’s formal education system.
Present during the tour were Pastor (Mrs.) Modupe Oke, widow of the immediate past Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government; Hon. Tunde Jokotoye, Coordinator of SWAGA, Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government; and others.
