The two Akoko Chairmen,Akande and Ashimiyu said the meetings was made possible by the consent of His Excellency Barrister Rotimi
Akeredolu,Executive Governor of Ondo-State who has been making frantic efforts to rid the entire South West free of criminal activities.
They hinted that the positive signal from the earlier one called at the instance of the Traditional Rulers of all towns within the three affected LGA held recently made them call for another strategic security meeting as a follow-up to that.
According to them ,”We are pained by the agonies of our people who have become ready prey to the criminals who feasted on them on a daily basis attacking, kidnapping and killing them as they wish and due to these incessant attacks, rising waves of criminal activities and insecurity within the border towns of the three adjoining LGA of the two States call for great concern as lives have become unbearable for the people which necessitated the meeting’.
The LG Council bosses lamented bitterly saying they can not continue to fold their arms and watch the unabated killings, kidnappings and banditry in their localities due to porous security architectures in the Country.
“Everybody all over the world who is conversant with the news in Nigeria are aware that the Kogi- Ondo Axis and border towns are the most vulnerable with high rates of crimes perpetrated by these notorious criminals that have turned the place into danger zones”.
They assured that the collaborative effort being put in place will definitely put an end to this unpalatable development.
“We can boldly state here that we have decided to take a proactive step by synergising together to frontally combat the issue of insecurity in our respective domains.
“As LG Chairmen we owe it to our people as a duty to uphold the mandates of our office by defending their fundamental rights to life, to live without fear of insecurity and criminals.
The three LGA Boss unanimously resolved to collaborate together and form a formidable force to wipe out all the criminals from their various hide-outs from their respective communities and territory.
On this renewed effort ,the LGA Bosses concluded by reassuring that the security collaboration between the three LGA is the most creative crime combative initiative to burst and wipe out all the bandits.
We are reassuring our people that life and socio-economic activities will soon return in full swing without fear or banditry molestation.
