Nigerians are currently in pain due to an increase in transport fare .
Investigation revealed that the increase in fare was caused by scarcity of petrol leading to an increase in pump price from N165.00 to between N180.00 and N200.00.
Though the Presidency has not confirmed the new pric but the marketers are insisting that they can not sell at the former price because it will amount to selling at a loss.
Investigation further revealed that the fare from Mowe to Ketu which was between N200.00 to N300.00 is now N500.00,a journey from Ikorodu to Maryland which was N200.00. is now N700.00,Berger to Agege Pen Cinema which was N150.00 now goes for N300.00 and same goes for other parts of the state
Also there is an increase in the interstate transport fare as the fare increases on daily basis depending on how much the commercial drivers purchase fuel.
Some of the drivers who spoke with Pt said that it’s not their fault because they go through lots of hardship before buying the fuel and worse still some the petrol stations prefer to sell to hawkers who sell to them at black market.
Apart from motorist commercial motorcyclist otherwise known Okada who operates in some suburbs have also increased their own fare too by over 50percent and this is currently taking its toll on the price of essential commodities such as gari.bean .rice, palm oil ,beef, fish ,palm oil and other staple food .
Meanwhile President Muhammadu Buhari has blamed the indegenious people of Biafra ,IPOB for the scarcity of fuel saying that they are the ones vandalising the pipelines.
