The family of the late Olubadan Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji,Aje Ogungunniso 1 has said that there is no controversy over the choice of the late Olubadan’s son Prince Adebola Kabir Adetunji as the head of the family.
A statement issued by the family and signed Lanre Durodola stated that the family is aware that a section of Alusekere family is aggrieved over the choice of Adetunji as Mogaji (head of the family)
And that their grievance is baseless because Prince Adebola Kabir Adetunji is not competing with anyone, as he is a bonafide head (Mogaji) of his late father’s compound that is , His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso1,” so there is no controversy on the issue of Mogajiship in the Adetunji’s compound.’
Durodola said that after the demise of his father, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1, a letter was written to Adetunji by the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Mohood Olalekan Isola Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, signed by the Secretary to the Olubadan Advisory Council, Mr. K. Liasu on 11th January, 2024 which informed him about his installation as Mogaji of Adetunji’s but due to engagement at his workplace , he wasn’t available for an installation scheduled for 15, January 2024.
He said Adetunji was also invited by the immediate past Olubadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin for another installation that was stalled by the death of Oba Olakulehin.
Therefore, the present Olubadan, His imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja is only following the due process”
“It is on record that His imperial Majesty, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1 was made Mogaji of the Ladunni family and he rose to become the Olubadan of Ibadanland today there are Mogaji Ladunni and Odugade families. And there is no problem. The saying is “the more, the merrier”.
The family however wants the general public to be aware that there was no hanky-panky regarding the choice or installation of Adetunji’s son. “The Olubadan and the Olubadan Advisory Council are on the right path”.
